SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — Yoga Seed Collective is one of many nonprofits across the country asking folks to stretch a little more to help those in need as part of Giving Tuesday.
The event focuses on giving back and helping others after a weekend geared toward hardcore consumerism and shopping.
April Hewlett is an instructor at the collective and says their charity group offers stress-reducing yoga programs for veterans, survivors of abuse, seniors, or anyone who can’t afford recovery therapy.
Like many nonprofits, they survive on donations from others.
Giving Tuesday is focused on giving back with one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give.
While many shoppers know about Black Friday and Cyber Monday, it was hard finding people who knew about Giving Tuesday, but they’re on board now.
“I think it’s great. There’s a lot of people in need out there,” said shopper Marie Lacoy.
